79: Diorskin Forever

I’m back! Since I rarely attend conventions and I haven’t been able to travel much this year, I thought might as well do blog posts about makeup, which I loveeeee.

Today I’m gonna focus on this foundation that I got from Dior – Diorskin Forever Perfect Makeup Everlasting Wear Pore-Refining Effect with SPF 35 (that’s a mouthful)

The Diorskin Forever in shade 010 paired with Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer.

A little backstory… After emptying my bottle of Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation, I went ahead and bought another foundation – Urban Decay All Nighter as I’ve heard great things about this foundation. The price point was also much lower than some other foundations I had in mind. The issue I had with the All Nighter was that it would not stick on my nose at all if I don’t do specific steps to prime. It wouldn’t work with just primer and applying foundation. NOPE. Even when it does stick, it comes off if I ever tried to put any concealer on my nose, forehead, near the nose area. After my skincare steps, I would need to prime > apply slight powder on my T-zone, and spray Mac Fix+ on my face, then while it’s still damn, apply the foundation with my beautyblender. The finishing and color match is very very good, but sadly the foundation would only last about 3 to 4 hours before it cakes around the nose and chin area. Tried a lot of different ways but it wouldn’t work and it just feels really heavy on the skin. (I have a combo skin type, normal-oily)

Fast forward to yesterday, I bought a Dior foundation (it was either getting this or Smashbox’s 15 hr foundation) in the shade 010 which is their lightest shade I believe? I’ve read mixed reviews about this, some said it oxidized like crazy but I tried it at Sephora and it did oxidize but not that much that it went 3 shades darker like some people said. The foundation itself is quite watery, somewhat like the MUFE Ultra HD I think. Below are two pictures after applying the foundation for around 1 hour+

After priming, I used a beautyblender to apply the foundation, though using a brush would probably give more coverage, which I’ll try the next time I use it. I used about 3 pumps overall, but a quick note is that the pump actually pumps out less product than other foundations I had.

The foundation does give off an airbrushed looking finish and it feels like there’s nothing on your skin. I did have to use a powder to set it as the weather here in Malaysia is crazy hot and humid. Average today was around 35C/95F.

I did not get oily at all by the 3 hour mark. As I’ve mentioned earlier that the UD did cake up and starts separating around my nose area at this hour. Though the foundation is slightly darker than my skintone, I don’t mind it at all as I use concealer and highlight on my face.

Photo on the left is taken in natural lighting. It looks the same as when I first applied the foundation to me! I was really impressed.

While I was out, I did some errands, helping my parents out as well with carrying like 3 barrels of water 3 times! Each weighing more than 15kg. I was out in the sun for sometime as well. Basically I was drenched in sweat, but hey my makeup stayed on pretty well! I did do one very unnecessary touch up at the 4 hour mark after sweating that much, but at that time I looked dewy, slightly shiny but it’s not really bad at all. I just prefer looking pretty matte.

The photo on the right (7pm) is after I had the foundation on for 7 hours+ at least, I powdered once after that 4 hour mark and the foundation still going on strong! That was the last photo I could get in natural lighting since it was getting dark at 7.30pm. Don’t mind the bad photo angle and lips, was also trying out another product.

Final check in photo!!

I could only use the mini LED ringlight to take a photo since my room has horrible lighting and it’s already night time. But other than some concealer wearing off at the under-eye area, and some texture next to the nose, the rest of the foundation was still really good. I did get shiny but the oil control is pretty amazing for me. Bottom line, I would recommend getting this foundation if you have normal to oily skin. Though if you’re dry, make sure to be very moisturized before applying this.

Diorskin Forever – RM205 (Available at Sephora stores and Dior boutiques)
PROS: Lightweight, long-wearing, buildable, oil control, beautiful finish.
CONS: Lack of shade ranges. For those that wants a full coverage, you’d need A LOT of product.
Note: The foundation has fragrance in it, so those that do not like their foundations having any smell, this wouldn’t work for you. Personally, I LOVE the smell, it smells really good to be honest.
TLDR: For those that’s looking for a light to medium coverage foundation, this is a great product. However, the shade ranges aren’t very impressive.
